Oregon Coast

I would like to dedicate this gallery to my wife Amy and our beautiful daughter Elise who were absolute troopers during the long drive and exploration of the Oregon Coast. My daughter especially was more accomodating than I thought possible from a five month old during such a trip. Without them, these images would have not been possible. We had a pleasant adventure visting some of the most breath taking vistas of the west coast. If you have never driven and viewed the Oregon Coast it is highly recommended. The images in this gallery were photographed over two days in mid April as well as a week in October 2010. The April excursion began in Grants Pass, Oregon then proceeeded down the Redwood Highway (199) into Northern California to Crescent City. From there we traveled northward up highway 101 towards Cannon Beach. Although on this trip we were only able to make it as far as Cannon Beach, I returned in October covering the rest of the excursion to Astoria and the Columbia River Gorge. I felt it was necessary in many lighting challenges, especially in the heavily stormy southern portions of the trip to utilize HDR imaging. This technical challenge actually provided a unique perspective and quite a dramatic effect on some of the images that were not expected. The dramatic effect has been well received by most, and would have not been possible until recent technical advancements in high dynamic range imaging. Hopefully you will enjoy and feel free to comment on your views. Thanks again for visiting and providing input to the images here, it is always appreciated. It is highly recommended to view the Oregon Coast (Black & White) gallery. These images lend themselves especially well to black and white interpretation. In many ways the intented final mode of the artist is best viewed in this manner.
