I would like to dedicate this gallery to Dave Ficke and Max McCormick. Both great educators who guided me in my early days discovering Yosemite and photography. Yosemite has always been a special place for me ever since my introduction as a fifteen year old to its natural beauty and outstanding scenic vistas. My first visit was with a 35mm Canon AE-1 camera in hand during the spring of 1985 with my high school field biology class. On this visit I was simultaneously just beginning to grasp the concepts of Ansel Adams' zone system along with taking in the wonders of this amazing place. Needless to say I convinced my high school field biology instructor, Dave Ficke to allow me to come along with his class the following year to photograph the valley in better detail. Encouraged by my photography instructor Max McCormick, my first endevour with a 4x5 field camera was a success on this trip in 1986 and many decent quality black and white negatives were exposed, processed and printed utilizing Adams' zone system. Since these early visits I have returned to Yosemite many times, refining my perspectives, bringing new photographic technics and technology, always in awe of the beauty of this amazing place. Images in this gallery were photographed over several years beginning in April 1997 which were 4x5 field camera transparencies and negatives now digitally scanned. The most recent images in this gallery are from march 2022. The highlight of this recent visit was a great sunset - dusk sequence from the Yosemite Valley overlook. Most of the final versions of these images translate to black and white best in my opinion. Since my first visits to Yosemite, I always seem to revert back to the zone system techniques of Ansel Adams when exposing and processing images from this fantastic location.
